One of our missions at the HeartSafe Foundation is to make automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) easily accessible to organizations serving the public in Johnson County.

Last year in Johnson County there were 380 sudden cardiac arrest cases with resuscitation attempted. The county survival rate after suffering a cardiac event was 52.1% with citizen intervention, well above the overall rate of 17%. Having citizens ready to provide early CPR and early defibrillation with an AED is integral to improving the chances someone will survive sudden cardiac arrest.

We are now seeking organizations that would like to have an AED available but are unable to purchase one themselves. Our organization will continue to work with local first aid suppliers, donors and businesses to make AEDs available and will continue to donate to organizations in need.

Receiving organizations will be asked to maintain the AEDs and insure there are members of their staff trained in CPR.

Interested organizations can apply through the application on this page.

Thank you for applying!
